After a year of study and training with the wonderful people at Oxfordshire Sport Flying at Enstone aerodrome I have achieved a dream of mine this week and qualified as a pilot.

Suffice it to say I am very excited, I’m not entirely sure it has sunk in yet.

Learning to fly is full of important landmarks; the first solo, the qualifying cross country flight, instrument appreciation, the final flight test, and not to mention the numerous ground exams.

You have to learn about air law, navigation, biology and human factors in flight, radio communication and procedure, the mechanics of flight and meteorology… and all that outside of the physical act of flying an aircraft.

I am surprised that I managed to cram it all in there, but at no point did I doubt that I could.

So much in life is achievable, you just have to want it badly enough.
